Community Service - Carrying the Torch

Community Service - Carrying the Torch
December 2, 2024

Glove Cities Veterinary Hospital carries on a legacy of giving back to our community. Dr. Will planted the seed by participating in a variety of community service events each year on behalf of Glove Cities Veterinary Hospital, including highway garbage cleanup and ringing the bell for The Salvation Army during the holidays. The whole team has since followed his example and for the past 10 years, we have been dedicated to the community, specifically working with local animal shelters.

We had our 11th annual shelter supply drive and got our sister practice, Dove Creek Animal Hospital, involved as well. We both run shelter supply drives each year, choosing different shelters to support. During the drives, we record videos of the pets up for adoption and share them on social media to help spread the word. We also put out donation boxes twice a year to raise money for other local shelters in our area. In 2023, we raised around $300 for the Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter. This coming spring, we plan to plant a tree on behalf of Glove Cities Veterinary Hospital and Dove Creek Animal Hospital.

We don’t stop at donating supplies to local shelters, either. Here are some other community events and fundraisers we are a part of:

  • Trunk or Treat at Lexington, which provides services in Fulton, Albany, and Schoharie Counties to approximately 1,300 children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Christmas “adopt a family” event, where we provide toys and clothing to help a family in need. Last year, the family came and picked up the gifts themselves. It was very rewarding.
  • Woofstock local shelter fundraising event.
  • The Fulton County Regional SPCA’s Chili Cook-Off. This past year, Dr. Reindel’s Chili won a prize!
  • Sponsoring a local Little League team. The Gloversville Little League Baseball Field is across the street from the hospital. The staff loves sponsoring a team and having our name represented by kids having fun and being active!

Our goal is to make giving back to the community a priority. We can see the impact we have and how it affects team morale and helps build strong connections!
