Kelly Maxwell, DVM

Veterinarian

Kelly Maxwell was raised in upstate New York and attended Boston University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology in 2002. Her decision to become a veterinarian developed out of her love and compassion for animals as well as an interest in the biological sciences. She earned her DVM from North Carolina State University in 2009. Following graduation she completed a one year internship in emergency medicine working with dogs, cats, and small exotic animals. She then worked primarily in daytime private practice in Florida, Oregon, and Maine, while also working intermittently as a relief emergency veterinarian. Her love of nature and desire to help all creatures also led her to volunteer in her free time with wildlife and rehabilitation groups.

Over the years Dr. Maxwell developed a special interest in integrative medicine and became certified in small animal acupuncture through Chi University. She has also taken courses in canine rehabilitation medicine and food therapy. She is passionate about combining holistic and conventional methods to improve the quality of life and promote the well being of all of her patients!

She couldn’t be happier to join the team at Glove Cities Veterinary Hospital! She is also excited to return to upstate NY and enjoy all that it has to offer. When not at work she can be found outside exploring nature and playing with her wild and lovable Pomeranian family! She is a “Pommy mommy” to 3 Pomeranians - Cooper (short for Cooper’s Hawk), Rosie (short for Roseate Spoonbill), and Smalls (as in “you’re killing me, Smalls!).
